SUMMARY:International Online Summer School on Digitalisaton of Built Environment
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Dig-IT Lab international online summer school. This extensive learning package provides an interdisciplinary introduction to the digitalisation of the built environment\, addressing technical\, societal\, ethical\, and business dimensions. \n\n\n\nSummer school participants will explore how digital technologies\, data-driven methods\, and AI are transforming buildings systems\, and how these developments contribute to more sustainable and intelligent built environments. The programme combines lectures\, hands-on sessions\, and interactive group work\, offering both conceptual understanding and practical skills. \n\n\n\nIntended Learning Outcomes \n\n\n\nAfter completing the summer school\, participants obtained initial insights to: \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand key concepts and challenges in the digitalisation of the built environment\n\n\n\nApply data-driven and AI-based methods (e.g.\, digital twins\, occupant modelling\, anomaly detection)\n\n\n\nGain hands-on experience with Python-based tools for data analysis and system modelling\n\n\n\nAssess ethical\, societal\, and human-centric aspects of digital technologies\n\n\n\nIntegrate technical\, societal\, and business perspectives in complex real-world applications\n\n\n\n\nTarget Audience \n\n\n\n\nPhD students\n\n\n\nMaster’s students (advanced level)\n\n\n\nEarly-career researchers\n\n\n\nProfessionals in digitalisation\, built environment\, and related fields\n\n\n\n\nCertification \n\n\n\nA participation certificate can be obtained from the organisers for accreditation in the education program at their home institution. \n\n\n\nRegistration \n\n\n\nRegistration is open April 6 – June 20Participants can sign up for individual modules or the full programme. Participation is free of charge. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here: International Summer School on Digitalisation of the Built Environment \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme 13–21 August\n\n\n\nThe programme is built on modules (all online). \n\n\n\nEach module consists of 2 h lecture + 15 min break +2 h group work:8:15–12:30 AM moduleLunch break (75min)13:45–18:00 PM module \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDownload the programme as PDF \n\n\n\n\nOnlineSummerSchool.pdf\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAug 13 (Thu)  \n\n\n\n13:30–13:45: Welcome\, information & organisation\, Qianwen & Tobias \n\n\n\nPM Smart microgrids for sustainable buildings\, Qianwen Xu \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAug 14 (Fr) \n\n\n\nAM Technology as a tool not a solution – Facilities Management example\, Carmel Margret Lindkvist\, NTNU \n\n\n\nPM Buildings as energy storage hubs for flexible sector coupling\, Saman Nimali Gunasekara \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAug 17 (Mo) \n\n\n\nAM Data driven simulation for control or anomaly detection in smart buildings\, Magnus Jansson \n\n\n\nPM Integration of AI-based data driven Occupant Prediction Model with Digital Twins\, Farzin Golzar \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAug 18 (Tue) \n\n\n\nAM Sustainability challenges and opportunities of digitalization in buildings\, Tove Malmqvist Stigell \n\n\n\nPM Value sensitive design for ethically informed and socially sustainable technology development\, Barbro Fröding \n\n\n\n\n\nAug 19 (Wed) \n\n\n\nAM module Session 1 and PM module Session 2 on Introduction to open-source interactive energy management toolbox “batem” Stephane Ploix INP Greenoble Institute of Technology\, FranceStudents individually work per session on one lecture and workshop from lecture 1–10 : https://gricad-gitlab.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/batem/tutorials \n\n\n\nStephane Ploix provides study support. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAug 20 (Thu) \n\n\n\nAM Digital Maturity and Data-Driven Decision-Making\, Agnieszka Zalejska Jonsson \n\n\n\nPM Digital transformation in business networks\, Malena Havenvid \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAug 21 (Fr)AM Privacy-preserving synthetic data for smart buildings\, Tobias Oechtering \n\n\n\n12:30–12:45 Closing\, Tobias & Qianwen \n\n\n\n\n\nOrganisers \n\n\n\nDig-IT Lab\, Team for Internationalisation \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Qianwen Xu \n\n\n\nqianwenx@kth.se \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Tobias Oechtering \n\n\n\noech@kth.se
