Dig-IT Lab is a competence centre with the goal of reducing the environmental impact of buildings through digitalisation. The centre promotes collaboration between academia, businesses, industry, and research centres to bridge the gap between research and industry applications, turning building data into actionable outcomes.
Dig-IT Lab aims to utilise the potential of digitalisation to make buildings more efficient and sustainable, reduce carbon emissions, and accelerate the market introduction of new technologies. The centre also serves as a dynamic hub, where academia, industry, and decision-makers can collaborate on innovative solutions.
The work carried out within the centre is designed to enhance competitiveness and leadership in the digitalisation of the built environment. This includes maximising the benefits of digitalisation across a building’s lifecycle, sharing knowledge, and contributing to the development of key competencies for a digitally driven built environment. The centre also supports cross-disciplinary research on key topics like digital twins, business models, and circularity.
On the infrastructure side, Dig-IT Lab is working to establish several new virtual testbeds, including an overall “Testbed Xn.” The testbeds will support research and development aligned with the centre’s themes, providing a neutral testing environment for joint research and development, and technology transfer.
Dig-IT Lab was jointly founded by Vinnova, KTH, and partners from both industry and academia. It builds on and expands the research and collaborations established within the research centre KTH Live-In Lab.
