During Almedalen, Jonas Anund Vogel, Competence Center Director and Mikael Dimadis, project from Einar Mattsson and board member of Dig-IT Lab, were at Bostadspolitik.se:s arena to present the possibilities with Dig-IT Lab. In the audience there were several large property owners and construction companies who keenly listened in.
Together with Johanna Bjurskog, Sustainability Manager, Riksbyggen, Carl Ståhle, Digitalization Expert, Sveriges Allmännytta and Hanna Bodbacka, Sustainability Manager, Besqab under the leadership of moderator Kent Persson, the conversation then revolved around what is being done in the industry and where you need to accelerate the power of innovation. The discussion evolved around: What is the right thing to focus on? Where are the pitfalls? And what does the future look like?
The challenges of the real estate industry – a starting point
The seminar started along the challenges of the real estate industry with sharply increased costs of various kinds, including but not limited to, maintenance costs. When the opportunities for increased income are limited due to regulated housing rents and a tough economic climate that affects the finances of home buyers, property owners must accelerate innovation to find new ways to reduce costs.
The demands on the industry are not only increasing from a cost perspective. There are increasingly higher demands on reducing the climate footprint. The demands come from the EU, government, parliament and commercial tenants.
Great potential for improvement in the industry
The real estate industry continues to have great potential for improvement, while digitalization provides new opportunities to accelerate the related work. New working methods and systems must be developed, and, above all, climate mitigation efforts need to be scaled up and move from cutting-edge projects to being implemented throughout the organization and industry-wide.
